Senate Passes Patient Protection and Affordability Act!
In its first Christmas Eve vote since 1895, the Senate passed its version of a health care reform bill. Sadly, the Senate's version of reform doesn't include a public option and falls short in the key area of affordability. While those of us at CPA are disappointed in this development, we recognize that the bill does include many health care reform victories and we are committed to opening the new year by putting up a fight to save the public option and improve affordability provisions. The House bill and the Senate bill will be headed for Conference Committee after the holidays. Once there, these two bills will be merged to produce one final bill that both the House and the Senate will vote on. We will begin 2010 by fighting for the most comprehensive bill possible. Are you with us? To receive updates and find out how you can help us win this and many other important progressive victories in the new year, please sign up for our mailing list.
